Nissan EV Quick Charger coming this November

One of the perceived downsides of electric vehicles (EVs) is length of charge time. It takes about seven hours to charge the Nissan LEAF from a depleted battery using a 220/240 V charging station. When using a 110-120V charging station, that number nearly triples to approximately 20 hours. Not only does it require planning to ensure the LEAF doesn't run out of charge at an bad time, it can also put your vehicle completely out of commission for nearly an entire day!

Nissan is now offering a 480V quick charging station that delivers an 80% charge in just about 30 minutes. This time frame is clearly more compatible with the hectic lifestyle of most consumers today.

Nissan is already planning to bring their new 480V quick charger to market in Japan, this November. And, while exact dates have not yet been set, the Japanese automaker is expected to bring it to over the U.S. in the near future.
