There is the regular, full-sized Titan that has capabilities and features and the Nissan Titan XD, a heavy-duty pickup with more towing and hauling capacity.
Nissan Titan/Titan XD Performance
The Nissan Titan and Titan XD come standard with a 400-horsepower V8 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The transmission has been tuned for smooth shifting, good acceleration and good fuel economy.
The Titan can tow up to 9,323 pounds and haul up to 1,687 pounds around Honolulu and beyond. The Titan XD is optimized to tow up to 11,033 pounds and haul up to 2,408 pounds. The Titan XD is often the choice of commercial enterprises that need extra towing and hauling capacity. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Titan, with four-wheel drive available.
Four-wheel drive is standard on the Titan HD, and it has a two-mode, transfer case that uses a switch that can be engaged on the fly. There is a two-wheel drive mode as well as a low and high four-wheel drive mode. The low four-wheel drive is for the steeps.
Nissan has many standard features that help optimize the Titan and Titan HD's strength and ability to tow and haul heavier loads safely. There is an available hitch mount receiver or a gooseneck hitch for the Titan HD. Nissan uses firm, leaf-spring rear suspension, a fully-boxed ladder frame and adds other technological trailering assistance.
The Nissan Titan has a lot of standard features that make it a good off-roader with just the four-wheel drive. Over nine inches of ground clearance is standard along with a system that brakes a slipping wheel and adds more torque to the other wheels. There is also hill start assistance that keeps you from slipping backwards and hill descent control as well.
A special model of the Nissan Titan HD, the PRO-4X, is optimized for off-road enthusiasts. It has a locking rear differential and skid plates to add to the rest of the already-optimized Titan.

The Titan and Titan HD are available with either a four-door crew cab or a two-door extended cab, whichever is best for your needs around Schofield Barracks. In the truck bed, other available features include a Ultili-track system that has sliding cleats to help secure your loads within the bed, truck bed lights, lockable boxes that also serve as portable coolers and a 120-volt outlet.
The interior of the Titan and Titan HD can be plain Jane or even have luxury appointments, like leather seating and a powered moonroof. The crew cab has leg room for six passengers. If you opt for captain's chairs in the second row, you can seat up to five passengers. There is a rear-seat organizer and an under-seat organizer for added gear storage inside. An available, deeper center console can even hold a small laptop.
